loses his beard during a full moon in the year 2000.

Zodiacal Light:

This image of the Zodiacal Light was taken at the Observatory on 17 Mar 2015 by Tyler Penland (former student telescope operator).  The whitish-blue narrow triangular shaft of light extending to the upper-left is the Zodiacal Light.  This is sunlight forward scattered off dust in the plane of the Solar System and so we see it stretched along the ecliptic line (not shown) in the sky.  The yellowish sky-glow near the horizon is light pollution from Atlanta and its northern suburbs, and peeking through the tree line is bright Venus as the evening star.  Most students have never seen the Milky Way and only a very few people have ever seen the Zodiacal Light.
