GSC SIFE has been actively involved in teaching
how free markets work using the Junior
Achievement curriculum. JA programs teach
students the basic concepts of business and
economics. Through hands-on activities, the
students learn basic concepts of business and
the principles of how organizations operate and
make a profit. Our SIFE team works closely with
our Business Advisory Board members at JA. Our
SIFE team members taught or mentored Five JA
Classes during the academic year. We taught the
JA middle school program and we taught the Our
Cities program to 24 third grade students in
cooperation with Junior Achievement’s Hispanic
initiative. The Our Cities program teaches how
cities work within the free market economy
including actually building a city complete with
zoning and taxes.
Junior Achievement uses hands-on experiences to help young
people understand the economics of life. In
partnership with business and educators, Junior
Achievement brings the real world to students,
opening their minds to their potential.
