TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

First and foremost for me, teaching is passion for one’s subject and compassion for one’s students. That is to say, teachers should be excited about the subject they teach and feel compelled to bring this excitement to their students on one hand and, on the other, to  feel a deep respect for their student’s journey, though difficult at times, to learn new material. I have always felt that the “art” of teaching is about conveying material to a learner in a way that is most effective for that learner to learn. Although this, in and of itself, may not always be effective, teachers should always strive to create the best possible learning environment. In many ways, good teaching sets up the conditions upon which effective learning can take place. Having achieved that, the student must now become an active part of the process.
