Selling things on Ebay might be more trouble than it's worth. I came to this conclusion after spending two days going through the steps to post my small lot of 16 items. I thought the process would be much less time-consuming however unless the bidding wars boost selling prices to a significantly higher level then my minimum, I will have wasted my time.
Collecting and photographing the items required great care. I wanted to post clear pictures. So, I spread a white sheet over a sofa for a background. Before snapping a picture, I propped up a ruler to show prospective buyers the size of each item. One angle was not sufficient to showcase some items such as my 3-D picture frame, so several shots was needed sometimes.
Next, I wrote a description for each item. This step was easiest for the books I could quote the dust jacket or use summaries provided on Ebay. Other items, such as hand-painted dishtowels, took more time to describe accurate. I saved each description. As a separate file in its own folder on my computer. Having written all the text, I uploaded the pictures into their corresponding folders.
The final step was posting the items and pictures on Ebay. Though their is a simple process set up to help sellers, they must still specify many options, such as excepted payment types and length of the auction. Having finalized all the choices and pasted in my descriptions and pictures. All that remains is wait for the bids to increase. If the price is staying low after all of my effort, I will advertise on Craig's list next time.
